What a beautiful day for a car show, and this our
first time at Weise GM Center, our club sponsor. The temperature and
humidity were both in the 90's but a nice breeze kept things
comfortable.
There were 70 registered cars on the day and around 20
club members Corvettes. I think this turned out to be a little more than
our sponsor expected, and a car show needs some space, resulting in club
members having to relocate their cars across the road. But it worked out
well and lessons were learned for the future.
A couple of the guys in the Garage dragged out a
ladder for me so I could get on the roof of the showroom to take some of
the pictures you see here. I am reminded of a certain play about someone
on a Hot Tin Roof!
Many of the members pitched in and did a great job
before, during, and after the show. There were plenty of goodie bags,
door prizes, trophies and we sold a lot of Hot Dogs, drinks, chips and
there was even a bake sale. This and the raffles / drawings raised a lot
of money for our 3 charities; Horizon House, Turning Point and The Love
Chapel.
Members can be seen below manning the tents and just
below to the left is Bill West doing a great job as DJ and general
announcer.
Our thanks go out to all the people that helped make
the show the success it was. And a special thanks to Mike Weise and his
staff for being our host.
