Corvette Club of Columbus Cruise-In / Car Show
Exit 76 Antique Mall & Car Museum
August 18,2001

Weather plays such a huge part in these events and we were so, so lucky this time. It had rained in the morning so it may have put a few people off but by the time of the show there was a fair bit of blue sky visible although dotted with some ominous black clouds. It stayed dry for the duration but I saw lightning as I drove home. Just over an hour later and the storm hit, I hope everyone got home before getting wet, because it poured down. Thunder and Lightning rocked our house and heavy rain soaked everything. Luckily everyone was dry during the show which turned out to be a great success. Thanks to the Circle City Corvette Club, South Central Corvette Club, everyone who came with their cars or just to look and thanks to the Exit 76 people for hosting the show.
Bill West's high flying act was a bit of a disappointment when he cheated and used a ladder :)
Just for a change one of the highlights of the show, for me anyway, was the rare appearance of this 1996 Lamborghini Diablo. At around $330,000 new you don't see too many of these about, apparently it was the first in this country and de-tuned to make it legal over here.

The words straight from the owner, Randy Brown:
"This is the 1st ever sold and imported 1996 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster into the United States. 1 of 12 in the world. 560 hp 218 mph. This is why Gene Sheeley has gray hair, ask him, he elected to take a flight on day. Color is Rosso Targa (Pearl and Red factory color.) Stopped production on roadsters in 1999. Lamborghini hand makes about 30 cars total per year. Clutch replacement $12,000.00"

Tweety Pie makes his appearance.
70 Cars of all shapes and sizes registered for this event.
Terry and Greg passing out goodies.
Bill West did a great job in his role as D.J. for the day.
DeAnna & Mallory Baker with Martha Bricker doing a fine job looking after the registration booth.
Ron Weber counting the cash for the 50/50 drawing, is that a smile or a grin :)
A couple of the hot-rods at the show get some attention.
Subway never knew what hit them! The poor folk behind the counter had a difficult time keeping up with all the hungry car fans. Steve and Terri Smith here with my wife, Audrey, having way too much fun :)
Terry hands out one of the People's Choice Awards.
And yes, the lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing bringing up his ticket to collect the cash.
